Eurovision Song Contest 2018: Swiss entry needed
Interested musicians are invited to submit their songs for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal from 1 September 2017.
The song selection process
In order to offer songwriters the chance to submit their songs even without a final vocalist, the SRG SSR is now focusing on the song selection in this first stage. After the registration closes on 22 September 2017, a 20-member independent jury and SRG SSR are expected to choose six songs for the national final. The jury is made up of music and media professionals, ESC fans and TV viewers. They will listen to all submitted songs that conform to the rules and, during several discussion and decision-making sessions, will select the finalists. The songs are not publicly available.
Casting the vocalists
The estimated six songs that qualify for the final will be tested with various vocalists to find the perfect interpretation of each title. The live check is therefore omitted in this new selection process.
The ESC 2018 Swiss Final on Sunday 4 February 2018 on SRF 2
The selected artists will present their songs during the live national final on Sunday 4 February 2018. This show will be broadcast live throughout Switzerland from the TV studio in Zurich. At the end, a vote made up 50% by the TV audience via televoting and 50% by an international expert jury will decide who will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal.
